Over 2500 athletes are being assisted with 6.28 lakh rupees per annum under the Khelo India Athletes Program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi, which will encourage youth toward sports.
Financial Assistance is allocated for each residential athlete across 21 disciplines, including para-sports under training at the accredited academies as per norms.
Includes of pocket allowance of 1.20 lakh rupees.
According to the Sports Authority of India, out-of-pocket allowance is directly transferred to the athlete's bank account. In contrast, the rest is spent on the training, lodging, and food at Khelo India Academy where athletes undergo training.
