After a month-long battle with COVID, Flying Captain Sikh Milkha Singh, passed away last night. Captain Milkha Singh was 91 years old, an Indian track and field sprinter who was introduced to the sport while serving in the Indian Army. Is the only athlete win a gold medal in the 400-meter race in the Asian and Common Wealth Games.
He represented India in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, and 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He was awarded India's 4th highest civilian honor " Padam Shree" for his achievements in sports.
The legend athlete was under treatment in the Covid ward at Nehru Hospital Extension at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Had tested negative on Thursday earlier this week and was shifted to the ICU.
