The prestigious Nain Singh–Kishan Singh Lifetime Achievement Award for mountaineering was awarded to retired BSF DIG Sharab Chandub Negi by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.
Sharab, born in Kinnaur(Himachal Pradesh), has had an extraordinary mountaineering journey, including participating in and leading numerous expeditions. At the age of 56, he notably scaled Mount Everest in 2006. He also tracked Mount Saser Kangri-IV and Mount Satopanth.
A real-life hero Sharab's legacy extends to saving lives during the 2006 BSF expedition and serving the nation during the 1999 Kargil War. Beyond Above, Sharab promoted adventure sports, disaster management, and youth training, especially in the tribal area of Himachal Pradesh.
