After three decades, more than 5 lakh migrant Kashmiri pandits from the valley live with a hope that one day will return to their home. The Kashmir Files, a film produced under the banner of Zee Studio highlights the reality of how Kashmiri pandits were forced to leave the valley. According to the writer & director of the film Vivek Agnihotri, the concept of the film is based on the available records and incidences narrated by the victim families.
Narrates the 1990 genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. Their children or close once raped and brutally murdered in front of their eyes. Even the judge of Srinagar High Court was shot dead in broad daylight. Despite the situation of the valley highlighted by Governor Jagmohan in his letter to Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi, no one bothered. Both state and central government were sleeping. The hands of our armed forces were tied.
The film has broken all the records and generated more than 79.25 crores revenue in the first week. Except few, the rest of the governments are considering declaring it tax-free in their states. Some communal and terror sympathizer groups may pressure to ban the film, which is ethically wrong. In all joint efforts of Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and their entire team are appreciable.
