Nutritious 'Laddus Distribution Scheme' for Pregnant Women

In the Gandhinagar area of Gujarat, about seven thousand pregnant women will get 15 nutritious laddus free of cost every month till the child is born, through voluntary organizations to fight malnutrition.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah launched a nutritious 'Laddus Distribution Scheme' for pregnant women in his Lok Sabha constituency, Gandhinagar (Gujarat) on the auspicious occasion of Krishan Janmashtami.

According to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Bhai Shah, Central and State Governments have started many nutritional arrangements.

In three years, about 7.5 crore pregnant women and 307 million lactating mothers were given 180 doses of folic acid supplements, which protect their health. Under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan launched in the year 2016, about three crore mothers undergo an antenatal check-up.

About 8.6 lakh smartphones have been purchased and given to Anganwadi and ASHA workers. In order to address the issues related to malnutrition, 18 ministries have jointly organized a collective campaign by forming a group to promote the Poshan Abhiyaan.
