36238 bottles of banned Codeine Syrup Byerex seized by the cops of the national capital Delhi, secretly stored in a godown at Azadpur. Codeine is a psychotropic substance used in syrup with Chlorpheniramine Maleate to treat cough.
Due to the side effects of these drugs, it has been prohibited for human consumption and banned by the concerned regulatory authorities under NDPS Act.
The grey market value of seized drugs is around one crore rupees. Preliminary investigation reveals that seized drugs were procured and kept for illegal sale to drugs addict through the network.
