Out of 20 Hosted Indian Languages, FaceBook Can Only Curve for 11

For curving hateful and offensive posts FaceBook India has its own in-house team of human reviewers and artificial intelligence together. 40 billion users of FaceBook are from India which will go to around 40% of total users around the world. For such a hues platform these tools may not be a permanent solution.

According to Director Public Policy of FaceBook India, Mr. Shivnath Thukral ties up with independent Fact-checking agencies who filter the misinformation for them. He appeared before the Committee of Peace and Harmony constituted by the Delhi Legislative Assembly on 18th November 2021 and responding the quarries raised by Chairman Shri Raghav Chadha.

FaceBook hosts in 20 Indian Language. Though Facebook has proficient fact-checkers but has a system to cover 11 languages only.

So far, the committee already examined seven extremely crucial witnesses namely Sh. Paranjoy Guha Thakurta: eminent journalist and author, Sh. Nikhil Pahwa: digital rights activist, Sh. Awesh Tiwari Senior Journalist, Sh. Kunal Purohit: Eminent independent and investigative journalist, Sh. Prabir Purkaystha: Editor NewsClick and Sh. Pratik Sinha: Co-founder Alt News, Mr. Mark S. Luckie: Facebook Inc's former employee.

After examining the communal violence held in Delhi in February 2020 Hon’ble Supreme Court in Ajit Mohan & Others v/s Legislative Assembly of NCT of Delhi has observed that it is the duty of the Delhi Legislative Assembly’s Committee to ensure that peace and harmony prevail.
