Senior Coordinator for Atlantic Cooperation Ambassador Jessye Lapenn hosted a virtual meeting of senior representatives from 36 members of the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation on May 23. Atlantic Partnership members received preliminary findings from the marine spatial planning working group, co-chaired by Angola, Morocco, and Spain. Members also welcomed the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance’s effort, via the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), on ocean observation and modeling and a convening on sustainable aquaculture as a food security solution for coastal Atlantic states.
The Atlantic Partnership engages in collective problem-solving of shared challenges and advances shared principles for Atlantic cooperation, as reflected in the Declaration on Atlantic Cooperation adopted in New York in September 2023. Members share a commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, open, and cooperative Atlantic region, while protecting the ocean as a healthy, sustainable, and resilient resource for generations to come.
The Atlantic Partnership includes 39 coastal Atlantic countries from Africa, the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean.
