Michael R. Pompeo, Secretary of State
On behalf of the people of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Poland on your Constitution Day.
Poland’s Constitution of May 3, 1791 remains a powerful symbol of the Polish people’s pursuit of liberty and justice. It was the Polish people’s desire for freedom that led to Poland’s rebirth as an independent country in 1918. And it is this pursuit of liberty and justice that inspired Poland to cast aside communism in 1989.
I am confident that in this time of global pandemic your freedom-loving nation will once again show its best qualities and succeed in overcoming the crisis. I look forward to seeing our friendship and partnership grow even stronger in the years to come.
