Pragyan Rower of Chadrayaan-3 confirmed the presence of Sulphur on the Lunar Surface near South Poll. According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) sources, the Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LBIS) of the rower also detected Aluminum, Calcium, Ferrous, Chromium, Titanium, Manganese, Silicon, and Oxygen.
Search for Hydrogen is underway. India was the first country in global history to touch down South Poll on the moon on 23rd August 2023.
The Laser Introduced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LBIS) was developed in the Electro–Optics System ISRO Bengaluru laboratory. It is a type of atomic emission spectroscopy which uses a highly energetic pulse as the excitation source. The laser is focused to form a plasma, which automizes and excites samples.
