On behalf of the people and Government of the United States of America, I extend my warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to you and the ni-Vanuatu people as you celebrate your National Day.
For decades our shared history has set a strong foundation for our bilateral relationship. With the opening of U.S. Embassy Port Vila this month, we have taken a bold step towards energizing our partnership and unlocking a new era of cooperation. We are also excited that Peace Corps, one of our institutions with a deep history of working alongside Pacific Island communities, has finally returned to Vanuatu and can continue its great work in the ni-Vanuatu community. In the coming year, we look forward to collaborating on a variety of issues including improving disaster preparedness and early warning systems in the face of increasing extreme weather events.
The opening of U.S. Embassy Port Villa earlier this month demonstrates the United States’s resolute commitment to Vanuatu and the Pacific Island region. As you enter the 44th year of your independence, I look forward to discovering new opportunities to deepen the U.S.-Vanuatu relationship through the embassy. My best wishes are with you and the ni-Vanuatu people on this 44th celebration of your independence.
