Spain is a close ally and a friend with whom we tackle a vast number of urgent global issues. Our friendship is based on shared values and interests such as the defence of democracy, and a commitment to rules-based order.
The United States is grateful for Spain’s leadership and partnership as a member of the G20 and the UN and most importantly as a key NATO Ally. Spain is a champion of the principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for national sovereignty and protection of human rights.
The United States is confident our shared values and priorities will remain at the heart of Spain’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. The bonds between our nations and people have never been stronger.
